Day One comprised of plenary lectures, presented by Professor Ivo Krejci of the University of Geneva, Dr Gilberto Debelian of the University of North Carolina and Dr Rino Burkhardt of the University of Zurich. Tony Druttman and Greg Finn lecturers at UCL Eastman Dental Institute presented Scope of Endodontic Retreatment and acted as moderator, respectively.

Day Two comprised of a series of hands-on workshops, held at the Institute's CPD facilities and at the nearby Hotel Russell, including Restorative dentistry using a surgical microscope – a whole new world by Professor Krejci, Microscope-assisted regenerative implant surgery by Dr Massimo Maza and Hands-on experience using a surgical microscope in endodontics by Dr Gilberto Debelian.

The Symposium was a great success as judged by feedback from the delegates.  They complimented the quality of the plenary sessions and were impressed by the reinforcement of learning and raising of confidence in the use of dental microscopes that the hands-on workshops offered.  Many of the international students expressed an interest in attending more hands-on CPD courses at the Institute.

The next microscope courses at UCL Eastman Dental Institute are:

  •  The Dental Operating Microscope in Restorative Dentistry – Seeing Beyond Loupes, Friday 6th December 2013.
  • The Dental Operating Microscope in Endodontics, Saturday 7th December 2013.
