Orthodontics students prize-winning success in 2013

Four students have maintained the tradition of UCL Eastman Dental Institute's unit of Orthodontics winning prizes and awards at international conferences.
Neil Patel won the British Orthodontic Society’s Houston Postgraduate Research Scholar prize, awarded to the best dissertation nationally, for his project entitled Development of a condition specific quality of life measure for use with adolescent orthodontic patients.
Jemnique Srai was awarded the Houston Research Poster prize at the European Orthodontic Congress which was held in Reykjavik, Iceland, for her project entitled The effect of information provision on anxiety in adolescent orthodontic patients: a randomised controlled trial. Her oral presentation of the work at the British Orthodontic Conference in Manchester also won Jem 2nd prize awarded by the University Teachers Group of the British Orthodontic Society.
Rachel O’Brien and Saraswathy Devi Sinniah were awarded 3rd prize for their audit published in the BOS Clinical Effectiveness Bulletin entitled A prospective audit of compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
The Institute offers its congratulations to all four.
