Students Awarded Travel Scholarships
7 May 2013
Two UCL Eastman Dental Institute students have each been awarded an Alpha Omega Graduate Travelling Scholarship to support their attendance at conferences this year.
Alpha Omega is an educational and philanthropic organisation that supports dentists internationally. The Alpha Omega London Charitable Trust this year offered two Graduate Travelling Scholarships to Institute students — Ahmed Sultan and Jemnique Srai were recently notified as the successful applicants. The scholarships are designed to support fees, travel and subsistence for a qualified dentist to attend a conference of interest during their period of graduate study.
Ahmed Sultan is studying for a PhD under the supervision of Colin Hopper, his project involving research into a novel treatment of head and neck cancer. He plans to present his work at a number of national and international conferences - HNODS in Munich, BMLA in Manchester, IPA in Seoul and AAOMS in Orlando.
Jemnique Srai is in her final year of Specialist Training in Orthodontics. She will present a poster based on her MClinDent research project at the European Orthodontic Society Congress in Reykjavic in June.
Each will recieve £1,000 and one year membership of Alpha Omega London Chapter.
