The Eastman Library provides networked PCs for its members. Some of these have flatbed or radiograph scanners attached. In addition to standard software packages on all the computers there is also access to Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements on some.
Readers must use their own media to save their files. All machines have conveniently located USB ports into which you may plug a memory stick or portable hard drive. Black and white and colour printing is available from all computers, please set up a pre-pay account at the issue desk.
Library staff will be happy to troubleshoot when you experience a computing problem. However, we are not able to provide computer skills training. Staff and students of the UCL Eastman Dental Institute should go to UCL's Information Services Division for instructor led, self-paced and video training courses as well as drop-in support.
A selection of computing books can be found in the library.
Most books are available for 7-day loan, though some books which are in particularly high demand are available for 3-day loan. Both 7-day and 3-day items which are on loan to another reader may be reserved. For renewals and reservations please use the online catalogue, logging on with your reader number (barcode) and PIN. For issuing and returning books readers are asked to use the self-service machine opposite the library entrance.
Please see https://www.ucl.ac.uk/library/borrow.shtml for further details on borrowing, renewing and reserving.
There are photocopier rooms on the ground and the mezzanine floor. Photocopiers use the same pre-pay accounts as the printers. Please ask at the enquiry desk for help when you use the copiers for the first time.
