The Foundation is a registered charity whose aims are to:
- promote the prevention and study of diseases of the oral and dental tissues, allied structures and allied subjects;
- improve the standard of knowledge of the means of prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure of such diseases
- support and carry out research and investigation into the causes of such disease through the establishment of an information and clinical research centre.
The Foundation seeks to support fellowships, conferences, seminars
and study tours and to publish, promote and support the publication
and presentation of books, journals and other literature as well
as providing specialist equipment.Prior to 2003, EFFORT was able
to provide relatively small amounts of funding of around £1,000
to support a variety of Eastman projects and research activities.
During 2003 it benefited from a one-off inflow of additional funds
and has been able to offer co-funding to some larger projects during
2004. These projects all support research.
The additional funds have also supported the first award of the EFFORT PhD Fellowship totalling £60,000 over the duration of the Fellowship. The Trustees are happy to consider further (smaller) bids during the next 12 months. A copy of the Guidelines for Bids (PDF) is downloadable from this website.
Jane Calvert-Lee (EFFORT Chair) wrote an article about the charity for Issue 4 of Eastman 360° - download the article, or see the full issue.
