Research Summary:

I use first-principles simulation methods to predict the properties of iron-bearing planetary materials at high pressures and temperatures. More specifically, I perform free-energy calculations and molecular dynamics simulations in order to understand how localized magnetic moments in these materials vanish with increasing pressure, a phenomenon known as spin crossover. The work also involves computing transport properties and constructing equations of state for these materials. My current interests are solid and liquid (Mg,Fe)O.
