Main interests – behavioural biology

I thoroughly enjoyed my undergraduate degree in biology, in particular behavioural biology. The research project required for my MSc in Audiological Science provided me with another opportunity for research in this subject, before shifting my focus to the clinical aspect of audiology. I concentrated on the potential role of sensory feedback in courtship song production of Drosophila melanogaster. This research focussed on the possibility of sensory feedback occurring via the antennal route in male flies. Through video and song playback analyses song parameters of wildtype males were compared between males with normally functioning antennae and males whose antennae had been functionally ablated.
