A Practical Approach to Airway Management: Date TBC
This course is limited to 12 people to ensure a high teacher to trainer ratio. Additionally we must receive all bookings at least 2 weeks before the course date.
This is a one day course designed to cover all you need to know about the practical aspects of adult and paediatric airway management. It is a hands-on opportunity to secure a safe airway using surgical and anaesthetic techniques with instruction on jet ventilation and the management of the ‘can’t intubate; can’t ventilate’ scenario.
Assessing and securing a safe airway is an essential surgical skill for trainees in otolaryngology, maxillofacial surgery and emergency medicine. The course is also relevant to healthcare professionals involved in the care and management of an airway.
The day is divided into a session of lectures in the morning focussing on the practical aspects of managing adult and paediatric airway conditions. The afternoon consists of practical work stations involving manikins and porcine models including tracheostomy, bronchoscopy and anaesthetic sessions. This is a great way to put into practice some of the key concepts learnt in the morning.
Throughout the day, faculty members are available to answer any questions and particularly help address any difficult scenarios personally experienced.
