Applying to UCL

UCL is committed to providing equal opportunities for all students. We welcome applications from people with disabilities. The same entry criteria are applied to all applicants regardless of disability. Your application will be considered solely on the basis of academic merit. Any discussions about your disability support requirements will be kept separate from the admissions procedure.

UCL strives to ensure that all courses are organised in a way in which offers the best possible opportunities for full participation by disabled students. However, many of the older buildings at UCL are not fully accessible to anyone with a mobility difficulty. If you are a wheelchair user or have difficulty with stairs you are strongly advised to contact us before you apply to arrange a visit.

The university prospectuses and departmental booklets provide detailed information about courses. Should you need these in an alternative format please contact Student  Disability Services with your request.

Other information regarding admissions can be found on the UCL Prospective Student website: www.ucl.ac.uk/prospective-students/

Information for Disabled Applicants

On your application form you will be given the opportunity to declare a disability. It is important that you use this opportunity to make the university aware of your disability and support needs. This will ensure that you receive information and advice from us promptly.

Click here for our factsheet for applicants about the support services we provide.

Applicant Support Questionnaire

If you disclose a disability and get an offer from UCL, we will ask you to complete an applicant support questionnaire, so that you can tell us what support you think you will need to access your studies and complete them successfully. This will help us to plan your support and to respond effectively to your needs whilst you’re at UCL.

The information you pass on is confidential. We will only share it with other relevant members of staff at UCL if you give your consent.

If you are concerned about disclosure please contact the Disability Co-ordinator, in confidence for advice.

Visit UCL

If access is a concern for you or if you wish to discuss your application with the Disability Co-ordinator in person you can request an information visit. An Information Visit can be arranged for you to help you assess the suitability of our facilities and to discuss your individual support requirements with the relevant staff. Visits to departments, libraries and accommodation can be arranged. If you need to visit, we can reimburse your travel and accommodation costs for you and a guest.

We wish you all the best in your application and look forward to hearing from you.
