Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Library & Information Science
Duties and Responsibilities
The UCL Department of Information Studies offers postgraduate qualifications and training for all the information professions. It is an international centre for knowledge creation and transfer in the fields of librarianship, archives and records management, publishing, information science and digital humanities.
The successful candidate will be expected to carry out high-quality research, teaching, public engagement and administration within the UCL Department of Information Studies, with a teaching focus on the MA in Library and Information Studies.
This post is available from 1 September 2013.
Key Requirements
Candidates must have a PhD in a relevant subject and a professional qualification in a library or information science field. They must also show evidence of active involvement in research at university level and teaching or teaching support in an HE in a relevant area. Those wishing to be considered for the higher grade role would be expected to have more significant experience and the ability to conduct high quality research of international standing.

Early Career Researcher (Research Associate)
Duties and Responsibilities
The
UCL Department of Information Studies is a leading centre for research
and teaching in all aspects of the information professions and, in particular, the social impact of archives and heritage.
The
Department is now seeking to recruit an Early Career Researcher
(Research Associate) for its AHRC-funded research project "Continuing
to Dig: supporting and sustaining innovative community heritage projects
in London and the South East". The project is part of the AHRC's
Connected Communities programme, run in collaboration with the Heritage
Lottery Fund's "All Our Stories" programme.
The
Early Career Researcher will engage in a wide range of activities
according to the needs of the "All Our Stories" projects, including
outreach work and provision of expert heritage-related advice.
The post is part-time (1 day per week) with funding available from 1 March 2013 to 31 August 2013.
Key requirements
The successful candidate will have a PhD (or be near completion) in a relevant subject. He/she will be able to communicate effectively with a variety of people of all ages and backgrounds. Experience of website management and use of social media in the course of work and public engagement would be an advantage, as would experience of organising workshops and meetings.
