INSTG046 The Publishing Business

This module aims to provide students with a detailed understanding of the ‘Anglo-American’ publishing business model. By the end of the module, students will be able to analyse business decisions effectively and have acquired sufficient transferable financial and other skills to enable them to make investment and business decisions with confidence.

Topics include: business structures and key players; corporate governance; profitable list and imprint management; cash flow; investment evaluation; start-ups and acquisitions; business plans; management roles and responsibilities; understanding balance sheets and profit and loss accounts; key business ratios.

Assessment: Assessment by coursework only
