If you are a national of a country outside of the EEA and Switzerland, you must not attempt to travel to the UK without a valid visa under any circumstances. The Immigration & Visas web page has further details. Please note that UCL cannot issue a Certificate of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) form unless you hold an Unconditional offer, so please make sure that you meet the Condition as early as you possibly can.
The Department of Information Studies has reading weeks in November and February.
General Information
Please download and complete the General Information form and bring it with you to departmental enrolment at the beginning of the academic year (see below for enrollment details).
2012-13 ACADEMIC
YEAR
The 2012-13 academic year starts on Monday 24 September 2012.
The first week (24 September to 28 September 2012) is Induction Week.
Full-time students should expect to be at UCL every day that week.
Part-time/modular
students should attend at least on Monday 24 and Tuesday 25
September and are most welcome to attend as many of the Induction
Week events during the rest of the week as they can.
ENROLMENT
There are
several steps to complete:-
Pre-enrolment: please complete this as soon as possible via the web site at: http://www.ucl.ac.uk/new-students/pre-enrolment
Departmental enrolment: on Monday 24 September 2012, between 09:30 and 10:30, please come to G20 (ground floor, Foster Court) to register with the Department, drop off the general information form (see above) and pick up handouts etc.
UCL enrolment: DIS students have a dedicated slot to complete UCL enrolment on Monday24 September 2012 at 17.00. This will take place in the main UCL building. Full details on UCL enrolment are at: http://www.ucl.ac.uk/new-students/enrolment
INDUCTION WEEK TIMETABLES
The timetable for
Induction Week (24 – 28 September 2012) is available HERE.
TIMETABLES
Please always check the
timetables provided by the Department first and do not rely solely on
the UCL online timetable.
The standard timetable starts on Monday 1 October 2012. Modules are usually taught over one term (term 1: October to December; term 2: January to March), either 10.00 to 13.00 or 14.00 to 17.00. Any exceptions will be clearly shown on draft and final timetables.
The Department operates a Reading Week in November (5 to 11 November 2012) and February (11 to 15 February 2013) during which there will be no lectures.
