Older people and carers in north east London are to be at the forefront of the latest innovations in healthy ageing. Care City (£1.8m funding) is one of seven initiatives to receive funding as an innovation test bed.
Health and social care organisations will collaborate with researchers and the technology sector to pioneer and evaluate the use of novel combinations of interconnected devices such as wearable monitors, data analysis and ways of working which will help patients stay well and monitor their conditions themselves at home.
The investment is expected to act as a catalyst for
regenerating one of London’s most deprived regions by making it a world-class
site for innovation and excellence in healthy ageing. The Care City innovation
test bed will work across the four London boroughs of Barking and Dagenham,
Havering, Redbridge and Waltham Forest. Among the innovations planned by Care
City are: Alivecor, Canary, MyBrainBook.
