Reflectance Transformation Imaging 4-day Training Course

This 4-day course takes place at University College London in our Multi-Modal Digital Imaging Suite in Malet Place, London WC1E 6BT. (We can also arrange training events at your location.)

Each course[1], led by Dr Kathryn Piquette, includes a combination of lectures, demonstration, and practical hands-on sessions.

  • Learn how to apply highlight Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI)
  • Gain experience in applying RTI to portable objects and larger fixed surfaces of various material types
  • Become proficient in capture, processing and manipulation of RTI datasets for diverse applications
  • Gain familiarity with related computational photography and processing techniques for augmenting and re-using RTI data
  • Apply what you learn in small teams of 2-3 people for hands-on work

Upon completion of this course, you will know how to set up, capture, process, view, assess and disseminate RTI images on the Internet.

RTI software and user guides for Capture, Processing, and Viewing are freely available from the Cultural Heritage Imaging website: Downloads.

Course participants receive a USB drive with finished RTI examples, data shot during the course, and technical and equipment tips, as well as 2 hours of UCLAiC consulting services free (valid for one year after the course).

Fee: £1200 per person. A concession rate of £1000 per person is available to full-time students, UCL students and staff, and organisations that enroll 2 or more participants. Proof of eligibility for the concession rate must be sent to: advancedimaging@ucl.ac.uk

Prerequisites: Basic photography skills; basic computer skills
