Dr Jordan Fenlon

Jordan Fenlon is currently a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow working with Diane Brentari within the Department of Linguistics at the University of Chicago. Prior to this, he was a research associate at DCAL working on several associated projects such as the British Sign Language Corpus Project where he was responsible for the creation and management of the corpus data as well as being involved in subsequent studies on variation and lexical frequency. His research interests include the phonology, morphology, and syntax of sign languages; understanding the use of sign languages in a social context (how do signers adjust their signing in different situations); and the relationship between sign language and gesture. In each case, he is interested in the use of sign language corpora to further our understanding of sign language use generally.
