Families with deaf parents and hearing children share some crucial characteristics with families with migration background, such as a minority language. In this acquisition context, CODAs (children of deaf adults) develop German spoken language either as first language within BFLA or as early second language. Multilingual research points to the impact of parents’ language choice on the bilingual language development of the children. Since the bimodal modus allows not only for mixing but for blending of the languages, the language strategies of deaf parents needs to be investigated systematically. In my talk, I will present the current status of my PhD project, which addresses the following main questions:
