Research Degrees Examination Entry
Research Degree Examination Entry Guidance Notes
During the examination process, correspondence will be sent to you at the contact address you have entered on your Portico record; please check this and keep it up-to-date. Your UCL email address will be used for any email correspondence so you must ensure you check this regularly.
Entry of Examination
You must submit a research degree examination entry form to
Student Records at least four months prior to the submission of your
thesis. These forms are valid for a period of 18 months.
If you first registered on or after 24th September 2007 you
will enter for the award of a UCL degree.
If you first registered for your degree before 24th September 2007 you must decide whether you wish to opt for the award of a degree from UCL or the University of London and indicate your choice on your examination entry form. This decision cannot be changed once you have entered for the examination.
Change of Thesis Title
Please ensure that your thesis title is correct on all the relevant forms of the examination entry and copies of your thesis.
If you change your thesis title after you have entered for the examination, your supervisor must email his/her approval to Research Degrees with the amended title.
Conjoint Work
If you are submitting conjoint work you must state fully your own share of this work.
You must attach a signed statement with the Examination
Entry form detailing your share in the investigation. This must be
countersigned by your supervisor. This will be sent to your examiners
with your thesis.
Examination Re-entry for Re-submission of Thesis
You should submit a new research degree examination entry
form to Student Records at least two weeks prior to the re-submission of
the revised thesis. A new Examiner Nomination form will not be required
