The Prankerd-Jones Memorial Prizes and the Austin Heady Prize in Biometry for the Professional Development Spine
The Prankerd-Jones Memorial Prizes were founded in 1983 by the subscribers to the Prankerd-Jones Memorial Fund, in memory of Nicola Prankerd (a former student of University College Hospital School of Medicine, 1976-1982), her brother, Richard Prankerd, and Alison Jones (a former student of the Slade School of Fine Art, 1976-1980), all of whom were murdered in Zimbabwe in 1982. The fund was subscribed to by their families and relatives, the Sir Jules Thorn Charitable Trust, the "Friends of Uuniversity College" and many other benefactors. The Austin Heady Prize in Biometry was founded at the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in 1983 by Gerry W. Fenn in honour of Austin Heady
- Two awards may be awarded in each session.
- The Prizes are awarded by the Council on the
recommendation of the Faculty
of Biomedical Sciences Board of Examiners
- The Prizes are awarded to the three students who
show the greatest
proficiency in the Professional Development Spine in Year 2 of the MBBS
course.
- The value each prize is £75. Each award will be
accompanied by a
certificate.
- No application is necessary.
- The awards are announced in June.
- Awards are subject to the provisions of the General Regulations.
