Continuing UK Students

Student Loan Tuition Fee Support

Continuing students who began their programme between the 2012/13 and 2016/17 academic years may apply for a student loan to pay their fees. Tuition fee loans available to continuing students in 2017/18 are a maximum of £9,000 for full-time students and £4,500 for part-time students.

Loans are repayable, but only once you meet the earning threshold set by the Government. Grants are not repayable.

Fees are paid on the student’s behalf directly to UCL by the Student Loans Company.

You can apply for student finance up to nine months after the start of the academic year if you're a full-time or part-time student.

New UK Students

Student Loan Tuition Fee Support

Students who start university in the 2017/18 academic year will be on the new student finance scheme. The main points are:

  • UCL may charge tuition fees of up to £9,250
  • Tuition Fee Loans will increase to cover the higher fees
  • Part-time students may apply for a Tuition Fee Loan
  • You don’t start repaying your loan until you earn at least £21,000

Tuition Fee Loans

The Tuition Fee Loan covers the fees you’re charged for each year of your programme. The Loan is paid directly to UCL in three instalments throughout the year. UCL will be charging £9,250 for full-time and £4,625 for part-time UK/EU programmes from the 2017/18 academic year.

How and When to Apply

New full-time and part-time students whose programme starts in the 2017/18 academic year may apply now for student finance. Please apply promptly to ensure you have your money when you start your programme.

You may apply for student finance up to nine months after the start of the academic year for your programme.
