Tuition Fee Support (UK Undergraduate Students)
Student Loan Tuition Fee Support – CONTINUING STUDENTS
New and continuing students who started their course before 1 September 2012 should continue to receive the ‘old’ student finance package. You can apply for a student loan to pay your fees. Part time undergraduate students can apply for a fee grant. These loans are repayable, but only once you meet the earning threshold set by the Government. Grants are not repayable. Tuition fees loans available to these students in 2012/13 are a maximum of £3,465.
Fees are paid on the student’s behalf directly to UCL by Student Finance England.
How to Re-Apply
Continuing students should apply online now for student finance for 2012/13. The deadline for applications, including signing the declaration form, is 29 June 2012.

Student Loan Tuition Fee Support – NEW STUDENTS
Students who start university on or after 1 September 2012 (academic year 2012/13) will be on a new student finance scheme.
The main changes are that:
- Universities can charge tuition fees of up to £9,000
- Tuition Fee Loans will increase to cover the higher fees
- Part-time students can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan (replacing grants) for the first time
- You don’t start repaying your loan until you earn £21,000 (up from £15,000)
- Applications for courses starting from 1 September 2013 will not open until at least February 2013.
Tuition Fee Loans
The Tuition Fee Loan covers the fees you’re charged each year of your course. It’s paid directly to UCL. UCL will be charging £9,000 for full time UK/EU programmes in 2012.
How and When to Apply
New full-time students whose course starts after 1 September 2012 can apply now for student finance. New part-time students can apply, using a paper form, from summer 2012. You need to complete your application for student finance before 31 May 2012 to be sure you have your money when you start your course.
