Student Insurance
UCL does not insure students either individually or as a group against accidents involving personal injury which might occur while you are on UCL premises or on site visits or field courses. You are responsible for obtaining your own insurance against personal accident and/or illness as well as insurance to cover the loss or damage to your personal effects.
UCL does, however, carry a Public Liability Policy which indemnifies it against sums which it shall become legally liable to pay in the event of injury resulting from any negligence on the part of UCL or its employees world-wide.
You should not sign any statement agreeing to UCL accepting liability for damage to property, personal injury or death caused during a placement unless this has been cleared with UCL's Insurance Brokers. The Director of Finance, Mr Jack Foster, is responsible for all insurance matters including negotiating with the Insurance Brokers. You should raise any queries on insurance matters with your Department, who may refer you to the Director of Finance.
