Look and Feel Project

The objectives of this project have been to:

  • To develop a form of content control for the Portico site, including setting standards and oversight of the standards by an editorial board
  • To improve the layout of the Portico site
  • To improve the look and feel of the Portico site

What has changed?

Following on from usability testing, the Portico website has been updated to reflect the findings and feedback from UCL students and staff. This includes examining the standards of the UI, terminology, functionality and layout of the site.

Significant changes include the information architecture (menu structures now with left hand layout) and items such as button sizes or labelling that are now standardised in approach.

Users familiar with the old Portico site may download a document that maps the changes:

How do I feedback on the look and feel?

While we did consult and do some show and tells on the new look and feel, more feedback is always good. If you have suggestions on changes, please contact the Portico Helpdesk using the webform:

http://www.ucl.ac.uk/ras/portico/helpdesk

Please add  “Portico Look and Feel” in the subject title.

All such suggestions will be assessed, with your help if necessary, and put forward to the Portico Editorial Board for consideration.

The aim of the project was to improve the design, user interface and overall usability of the system.
