Student Centre: walk-in enquiry service now open

In early May the Student Centre in Registry & Academic Services opened a walk-in enquiry service for current students on the ground floor of the Chadwick Building. 

Tim Perry, Director of UCL Registry and Academic Services, explains more below.

This is a first step forward in the development of a single, focal location for the delivery of services to students. The Student Centre brings together staff from a number of areas in Registry & Academic Services in order to offer a more integrated approach to the delivery of services to all students enrolled on programmes of study at UCL. Student Centre staff cover areas such as

• student records
• research degrees
• graduation ceremonies and opening of session
• study abroad
• international student welfare
• transition 

Initially the new Student Centre in the Chadwick Building will deal with enquiries relating to student records, research degrees, graduation ceremonies and opening of session arrangements. For the next few weeks the existing enquiries desk on the first floor of the South Wing, covering Study Abroad and International Student Welfare enquiries, will remain open to current students.  We plan, however, to integrate enquiries for Transition, Study Abroad and International Student Welfare into the Student Centre in due course and will update you as these changes come into effect.

The opening hours for the Student Centre are 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. Current students can also arrange to meet here with advisers and ‘specialists’ by appointment and the Centre will additionally provide students with a facility to access UCL online services.

All services provided at the Student Records enquiries desk on the ground floor of the South Wing ceased on 3 May and moved to the Student Centre.  The contact details of Student Centre staff are not affected.

Study Information Centre

The Study Information Centre which was formerly based in the Chadwick Building has now closed.  A comprehensive suite of information is available from the Prospective Student website at the top of the page. Staff in the Outreach team will continue to operate a programme of study enquiries telephone service and the number (020 7679 3000) remains unchanged.  Staff requiring copies of prospectuses or programme enquiries related information should continue to contact Outreach staff on the main enquiries number (x33000).

Front Lodge

Walk in prospective student enquiries from members of the public are being fielded by the staff at the Front Lodge where copies of prospectuses and the Self Guided Tour are available.  Enquirers at the Front Lodge are being referred to the Prospective Student website and provided with departmental/faculty contact information as required. 

Admissions counter

An Admissions counter for graduate admissions walk in queries is operating from the Student Centre in the Chadwick Building.  Undergraduate admissions queries will continue to be referred to the relevant faculty office.
