New perspectives on deaths of children and adolescents with life-threatening illnesses or chronic conditions

Thursday 21st November 2013 from 1.30 to 5.15pm

UCL Institute of Child Health

Our symposium will bring together new research perspectives on child and adolescent deaths and the views of parents and service providers.

Presentations will include new research comparing mortality in the UK with other countries and within the UK, with a focus on the contribution of chronic childhood conditions.

Research findings on clinicians’ and parents’ approaches to the care of children with chronic or life limiting conditions will be followed by talks giving the views of service providers and parents.

The findings will be debated with the audience and the symposium will end by drawing together key messages for policy and future research.
