Evolution of British Democracy

Led by Dr Alan Renwick, this project examined the changing character of democracy in the UK since 1945. The research focuses particularly on the changing roles that institutional structures have given to citizens and on how expectations regarding these roles have gradually shifted over time. It explored discourse particularly in the context of political reform debates, such as those on electoral reform. The research was funded by the Nuffield Foundation.
