Dave Busfield-Birch

Since January 2018, Dave has been Editor of the Constitution Unit blog and Monitor, the Constitution Unit's newsletter which is published three times a year. He has a BA in Law and History from the University of Kent, and has also completed the Bar Professional Training Course at the Inns of Court School of Law (now known as City Law School). He was called to the Bar by Gray's Inn in 2010. 

Dave has a varied work history. He spent ten years as an editor at Kantar Media Intelligence, where his clients included the European Commission, Bar Council and the Wellcome Trust. In addition to his paid work, he has also been a legal volunteer at the Public Law Project, an Appropriate Adult for Catch 22, a pro bono employment representative at the Free Representation Unit and a trustee of Lewisham Bereavement Counselling, where he spent two years as chair. 

He is also a former volunteer researcher at the Unit, where he worked under Robert Hazell on Understanding the Formulation and Development of Government Policy in the Context of FOI.  

In addition to his work at UCL, he is also the supervisor for employment, family and civil litigation advice at Toynbee Hall's Free Legal Advice Centre, where he was an advice volunteer for 7 years.
