Proteome matching as a tool to predict adult health and longevity

Dr. Matthew Piper, Institute of Healthy Ageing, Department of Genetics, Evolution and Environment, University College London

Tuesday 8th March, Location: AV Hill Lecture Theatre, Time: 17:00

Dietary nutrient composition is responsible for altering a variety of important life history traits, such as growth, reproduction and lifespan. Despite this knowledge, there is very little information about what constitutes a balanced diet. Using the fruitfly Drosophila, we have found that for dietary protein, the information encoding an organisms amino acid requirement is found in its genome sequence. I will explain how this provides is with insights into the regulation of behaviour, fecundity and lifespan.
