What is SiMPLE@CoMPLEX?
SiMPLE@CoMPLEX is an outreach initiative which aims to introduce school children to the idea of mathematical modelling of biology.
The example we have chosen is that of penguin nest building behaviour; where penguins build their nests either by foraging for rocks or by stealing rocks from other penguins.
The paradigm used to represent this scenario is that of a board game, where the rule set is equivalent to a mathematical model. The characters represent the foraging (left) and stealing (right) penguins.

The organisers for SiMPLEX@CoMPLEX are; Rob Stanley, Tharindi Hapuarachchi and Janine Symonds - they can be contacted at complex@ucl.ac.uk
