Research Summary
Nicos Ladommatos's research interests are in the field of internal combustion engines and his work has contributed to significant progress in a number of areas including: the characterisation of diesel fuels, mixture preparation in spark ignition engines - particularly during transients, the effects of exhaust gas recirculation on diesel engine emissions, understanding and controlling the processes involved in Controlled Auto-Ignition combustion, and fuels from renewable sources. He has also co-authored a book on IC engine instrumentation.

Biography
Nicos Ladommatos studied for his first degree in Mechanical Engineering at Queen Mary College, followed by an MSc and PhD from Imperial College. From Imperial, Nicos moved to work as a Project Engineer with Ove Arup & Partners before moving to Brunel University to take on the post of Lecturer. He became Head of Mechanical Engineering Department in 1994, Dean of the Faculty of Technology & Information Systems between 1998 and 2001 and then Pro-Vice Chancellor, Research & Enterprise between 2001 and 2003, all at Brunel University. Nicos was appointed to the Kennedy Chair at UCL from the beginning of 2004.
