Professor Marshall Stoneham

It is with great sadness and deep regret that we have heard of the passing of Professor Marshall Stoneham, FRS. Marshall was a world leading scientist in areas of solid state physics and materials science, and at UCL he was responsible for generating the CMR and served as its first director for many years. His work and impetus also played a key role in establishing the London Centre for Nanotechnology.

Professor Andrew Fisher has drafted an appreciation of Marshall as a person and scientist, and of his contribution to UCL.
