Who we are

Chris Brewin

Chris was appointed Professor of Clinical Psychology at University College London in 1999, a post jointly funded by UCL and the Camden & Islington Community Health Services NHS Trust. Chris contributes to the clinical service provided by the Traumatic Stress Clinic. His research interests include: Cognitive factors in depression and post-traumatic stress disorder; memory, emotion and trauma; inhibitory processes in cognition; psychological treatment for trauma responses.

Katriina Burnet

Katriina is completing a PhD with Chris Brewin entitled Cancer, Anxiety and Imagery and at the moment she is investigating intrusive cognitions and anxiety in prostate cancer patients. The first study is comparing matched non-anxious and anxious men on the frequency and nature of cognitive intrusions.

Janet Feigenbaum

Janet is a Senior Lecturer in the UCL Sub-Department of Clinical Health Psychology. Her research interests include: Adult survivors of childhood abuse; personality disorders; neurobiological mechanisms underlying the neurotic disorders; antisocial personality disorder and behaviour.

James Gray

James is a Clinical Tutor in the UCL Sub-Department of Clinical Health Psychology. His research interests include: HIV and sexual health (with a particular interest in the impact of antiretroviral therapy on body image); sexuality and suicidal behaviour.

Natalie Jacoby

Natalie is completing a PhD with Chris entitled Cognitive Mechanisms Associated with Depression. She is interested in the types of thoughts people have when depressed, the mechanisms behind these thoughts (in relation to VAMs and SAMs), and how these thoughts can be changed to reduce depression. Her present work involves the development of tasks that encourage people to add context to their thoughts and memories in order to reduce the competition between VAM and SAM activation.

Deborah Lee

Deborah is a Lecturer in the UCL Sub-Department of Clinical Health Psychology. Her research interests include: Research interests: PTSD, shame and anger, role of schemas in manifestation and maintenance of PTSD.

Stuart Linke

Stuart is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Head of Islington Mental Health Psychology. He is an Honourary Lecturer and Research Fellow at UCL. His interests include: CBT, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and Internet Based Interventions.

Trish is a Research Psychologist working with Chris Brewin and Jon Wheatley on an imagery & depression treatment project.

Tony Roth

Tony is a Joint Course Director for the UCL Sub-Department of Clinical Health Psychology. His research interests include: Evidence based practice as applied to the psychological therapies.

Peter Scragg

Peter is an Honorary Lecturer in the UCL Sub-Department of Clinical Health Psychology. His research interests include: mentally disordered offenders, personality assessment and cognitive therapy.

Lorna is a Research Psychologist working on PTSD veterans project with Chris Brewin

Matthew Whalley

Matthew is a Research Fellow working on a functional imaging study investigating emotional memory in PTSD, and a project investigating hypervigilance in PTSD.

Jon is a Clinical Psychologist working with Chris Brewin and Trishna Patel on an imagery & depression treatment project.
