Techniques

Arising from the scientific/clinical diversity expertise in the Centre, there is a vast array of techniques including:

Gilroy Laboratory:

Human models of vaccination and acute inflammation including skin windows driven by bacterial infection or injury alongside a myriad of experimental models of inflammation, infection and immunity.

Lythgoe Laboratory:

Magnetic resonance imaging, photoacoustic imaging, optical projection tomography, ultrasound, bioluminescence and fluorescence imaging, CT/radiotherapy, SPECT/CT and confocal endoscopy.

Clapp Laboratory:

Generation of human primary cell lines, in vitro models of human pulmonary hypertension, confocal microscopy, histology, small blood vessel myography, organ bath pharmacology, patch-clamp electrophysiology, in vivo and ex-vivo rat models of sepsis

Yona Laboratory:

Generation of transgenic mice to elucidate the role of cells of the monocyte/macrophage lineage in homeostasis and inflammation.

Marina-Gonzalez Laboratory:

Optogenetics, Viral gene transfer, In vivo electrophysiology (peripheral nerve recordings and extracellular recordings), In vivo cardiovascular measurements in awake and anaesthetised preparations (LVP, dP/dT max, blood pressure), Immunohistochemistry, Calcium imaging, in vitro animal models of hypertension, Obesity and heart failure

Breckenridge Laboratory:

Conditional transgenic mouse line generation, Hypoxic mouse rearing, Hypoxic tissue culture, Chromatin Immunoprecipitation/ChIP Seq, Stable isotope label metabolomics, Oxygen flux analysis

Pineda-Torra Laboratory:

Isolation of murine and human macrophages for transfection studies, Real time quantitative RT-PCR, RNA interference, Microarray analysis of whole genome gene expression, protein:protein interaction assays, Immunoblotting, flow cytometry, phosphorylation assays, in vitro and in vivo models of atherosclerosis.
