This book is designed as a self-study introduction to business Japanese. Emphasis is placed on the learning of the three different types of characters used for Japanese writing - Hiragana, Kakatana, and Kanji. The exercises are structured so that the student is guided through them, without needing the aid of a teacher. Real examples and topical situations are used so that the language is learned in its business and social context 8 Japanese for Business Communication Kazuko Nakagawa ELM Publications A1, A2 1990 1
This course aims at providing "survival Japanese," for the language learned can be put to immediate use in conversational situations. Basic guides to writing, pronunciation and grammar are presented at the beginning of the book, after which come Useful Daily Expressions and Signs in Daily Life. The main text is divided into thirty lessons, each dealing with conversational situations. Strategically placed throughout the book are ten Grammar sections to cover the most important grammar patterns, as well as revision exercises after every two lessons. The audio cassettes accompanying this book may be found in the Language Lab 9 Japanese for Busy People I Association for Japanese-Language Teaching Kodancha International Ltd A1, A2 1994 3
This text carries on from where "Japanese for Busy People I" leaves off, and, as in the previous work, the main focus is on having students acquire a working knowledge of everyday spoken Japanese. The book presupposes familiarity with the grammar and vocabulary in Book I, as well as a mastery of hiragana and katakana, and thus the use of romanised Japanese is kept to a minimum. This book introduced the student to kanji, and most of the opening dialogues are written in this form. The audio cassettes accompanying this book may be found in the Language Lab 10 Japanese for Busy People II Association for Japanese-Language Teaching Kodancha International Ltd A2, B1 1990 4
This is the final volume in the "Japanese for Busy People" series, the overall aim of which is the mastery of basic Japanese. In contrast to Books I and II, which put priority on ease of learning the essential rudiments of Japanese, Book III focuses on natural conversation in interpersonal relations, covering more complicated constructions and a greatet number of effective expressions. In this book, special attention has been paid to various styles of Japanese, including polite Japanese, informal conversation, and declarative writing. The format is the same as the preceding volumes, although kanji is used throughout in order to increase the student's familiarity with the written language. The audio cassettes accompanying this series may be found in the Language Lab 11 Japanese for Busy People III Association for Japanese-Language Teaching Kodancha International Ltd B1, B2 1990 2
This course is a carefully designed system and in order for the textbook to be as effective as possible, it should be used in the manner intended. The lessons in the book are structured in the same way: each contain core dialogues accompanied by their English translations, followed by notes on vocabulary and structural patterns, and finally exercises that test comprehension of all three areas. The student should tackle the lessons in order, as each lesson is heavily dependent on all preceding lessons. As the focus of this book is on oral proficiency, romanji is used throughout 12 Japanese: The Spoken Language Eleanor Harz Jorden & Mari Noda Kodansha A1, A2, B1 1987 1

This course is designed for complete beginners. This volume consists of eight lessons, each one structured in the same way: the lessons begin with a Model Conversation, which features dialogues between the characters of the book in different situations, thus introducing the student to the language most appropriate for formal and casual environments. These are followed by explanations of the grammar, vocabulary and content of the dialogues, and are accompanied by several exercises. There are review exercises after every two lessons. Romanji is used throughout the book, although it is gradually replaced by kana and kanji after lesson 5 23 Situational Functional Japanese - Volume 1 Tsukuba Language Group BonJinsha Co., Ltd. 1995 1
This self-study course aims at providing the student with the level of Japanese needed to converse in most everyday situations. Since the emphasis is on oral proficiency, romanji is used throughout, with the aim of tackling written Japanese once the student has mastered spoken Japanese. The thirty lessons in the book consist of dialogues which form the basis of the exercises that accompany them, and each one introduces the student to the language used in a different situation, such as familiar and formal speech 24 Teach Yourself Books - Japanese C.J.
