The Self-Access Centre - English - Newspapers and Magazines

The Language Centre currently subscribes to the following daily newspapers and weekly magazines. Hard copies are available in the SAC on a reference only basis.

New Scientist is a weekly international science magazine and website covering recent developments in science and technology for a general English-speaking audience. 1 New Scientist
Radio Times is the BBC's weekly television and radio programme listings magazine. 2 Radio Times
The Economist is an English-language weekly news and international affairs publication owned by The Economist Newspaper Ltd. 3 The Economist
The Financial Times (FT) is a daily British international business newspaper which specialises in business and financial news. Printed as a broadsheet on light salmon paper, the FT is the only paper in the UK providing full daily reports on the London Stock Exchange and world markets. 4 The Finacial Times
The Guardian is a British daily newspaper owned by the Guardian Media Group. Founded in 1821, it is unique among major British newspapers in being owned by a foundation (the Scott Trust, via the Guardian Media Group). The Newspaper is widely considered to be centre-left politically. 5 The Guardian
The Independent is a British newspaper published by Tony O'Reilly's Independent News & Media, It was launched in 1986 and is one of the youngest UK national daily newspapers.The Independent is regarded as leaning to the left politically,although it has not affiliated itself to any political party and a range of views can be found on its editorial and comment pages. 6 The Independent
The Time Out weekly listing magazines for London contains information about events in film, theatre, fashion, literature, music and all other artistic events happening, as well information on eating out and night life sections. 7 Time Out
