Subject Modules


All UPC students choose two subject modules from the following list. Click on the subject to read more on the course content.

When deciding which two subject modules to study, you should consider these main points:

  • If you wish to study a particular subject at university, you should select that subject as one of your two subject modules, or you should select the two modules most relevant to that particular degree subject. A guide to the required UPC subjects for UCL degree programmes is given below. We have also made recommendations on advisable subjects you should consider selecting.
  • Information on the subject modules and their course content is available by following the links on the above table. Please use this to help you decide.
  • You should select subject modules that you are interested in as enthusiasm for the subject is a very important element in achieving success.
  • Students must choose their entrance tests subjects carefully, as the subjects they are tested in will form the subject modules of their UPC course. No change to UPC subjects is possible, except in circumstances where timetabling and student numbers allow it. Any change may require an additional entrance test.

Both UPCSE and UPCH students will undertake the additional portfolio building course: Bartlett's Media Studies Undergraduate Course during their UPC course

In addition to your application you will also need to present a portfolio of artworks (pdfs preferred). Applicants are expected to demonstrate existing art and design skills.

The Slade Summer School at UCL is recommended for UPC students prior to starting a UPC course.

You will also need a GCSE or an IGCSE in Mathematics. UPCSE students can take this exam during the course. Please visit the University College Medical School website for more details about applying to medical school.

Previous experience involving contact with doctors or nurses or other medical staff, laboratory work or involvement with the sick or elderly or very young should be gained prior to beginning the UPCSE if the student wishes to seek admission to Medicine for the following year.

Students must be prepared to sit the BMAT and/or UKCAT shortly after beginning the UPCSE in September. Students are likely to be charged for the above examinations.
