University Preparatory Certificate for Science and Engineering (UPCSE)
UCL's Undergraduate foundation (UPC) Courses beginning in September 2013 are now full. Admission for 2014 entry will begin in November 2013.
The UPCSE is a full-time foundation course in science and
engineering for international students who are aiming to gain access to
undergraduate degree programmes at UCL (University College London) and
other top UK universities.
The UPCSE is an intensive one-year course for international
students of high academic potential. All UPCSE students study four modules:
- Two compulsory modules - Academic English and Science and Society.
- Two subject modules.
Preparation for university at university
All UPCSE lectures, seminars, tutorials and practical laboratory sessions are delivered within the university. UPCSE Students are registered as UCL students and have access to all UCL, University of London and the Centre for Languages & International Education academic, welfare, social and cultural resources.

| UPCSE students will be prepared for the following subjects at undergraduate degree level at UCL Architecture, Astrophysics, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Earth Sciences, Economics, Information Management for Business, Life Sciences, Management Sciences, Mathematical and Physical sciences, Medicine, Psychology, Statistical Science, and Urban Planning amongst others. |
With a reputation for academic excellence and success, the course provides an academically challenging and rewarding programme of study, ensuring that on completing the course UPCSE students are ready to face the challenges of university study in the UK with confidence and independence.
UPCSE Progression Scholarship
One scholarship per year is available to the highest achieving UPCSE student intending to study their BSc/BEng programme at UCL.
