The table below gives approximate equivalences to A-level grades:

Please note that an UPC percentage of 75% or higher can also be considered as an A* A-Level grade.
Experience suggests that 65% in the Academic English unit is of approximate equivalence to 6.5 in IELTS, 60% to 6.0 and so on.
Types of Offer
It is suggested that conditional offers are expressed in one of the following ways:
- As an overall average percentage.
- As an overall average with a specified percentage in one or more units (normally Academic English and the two core science/humanities units).
- As a specified percentage in each of the four units studied.
Note: the 25% of the mark awarded to the extended
research project in Science/Culture and Society should be borne in mind
when making offers on the basis of overall percentages.
