These sample tests give an approximate idea of the style and level of question you might be asked in your UPC entrance tests.

English Language

UPC applicants should provide an English language qualification recognised by UCL.

The Self Access Centre


For the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) the following minimum grades are required:

University Preparatory Certificate for Science and Engineering (UPCSE) University Preparatory Certificate for the Humanities (UPCH) University Preparatory Certificate for the Humanities (UPCH) with a Modern European Language

Pearson PTE Academic may also be offered: an overall minimum (and in subtests) of 51 is required for UPCSE. Similarly, PTE 55 is required for UPCH.

It is advisable to contact your local British Council office in order to take the IELTS test. If you do not have an IELTS or TOEFL score, your level of English may be tested.
