All the courses are aimed at suitable candidates who:

• are self motivated and enjoy distance learning;
• are capable language learners either in adult education or at university level;
• have an interest in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Lagelands 1 is designed for learners with no prior knowledge of Dutch. The outcome of the course is of a level comparable to A1 as defined by the Council of Europe. Lagelands 2  is for students who have successfully completed Lagelands 1. The outcome of the course is of a level comparable to A2 as defined by the Council of Europe.

Hogelands 1 requires an intermediate knowledge of Dutch. It is suitable for students who have successfully completed Lagelands 2 or who have reached a similar linguistic standard, roughly equivalent to level A2 as defined by the Council of Europe.

Hogelands 2 is for students who have successfully completed Hogelands 1. The outcome of the course is of a level comparable to B2 as defined by the Council of Europe.

Opperlands is aimed at advanced students who have completed Hogelands 2 or who have a comparable language standard of B2 (CEFR). The outcome of the course is of a level comparable to C1 (CEFR).

The reading skills courses are for students with little or no starting knowledge of Dutch.
