Online Dutch Course - Fees and Course Information

Who are the online language courses for?

All the courses are aimed at suitable candidates over the age of 18 worldwide who:

  • are self motivated and enjoy distance learning
  • are capable and independent language learners
  • have an interest in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Elegibility and Outcomes

Beginners 1 is designed for learners with no prior knowledge of Dutch. The outcome of the course is of a level comparable to A1 as defined by the Council of Europe.  Beginners 2 for students who have successfully completed Beginners 1. The outcome of the course is of a level comparable to A2 as defined by the Council of Europe. Intermediate 1 requires an intermediate knowledge of Dutch. It is suitable for students who have successfully completed Beginners 2 or who have reached a similar linguistic standard roughly equivalent to level A2 as defined by the Council of Europe.

Intermediate 2 is for students who have successfully completed Intermediate 1.

The outcome of the course is of a level comparable to B2 as defined by the Council of Europe. Advanced Dutch is aimed at advanced students who have completed Intermediate 2 or who have a comparable language standard of B2 (CEFR). The outcome of the course is of a level comparable to C1 (CEFR).

Students are reminded that all courses should be completed before the end date which they are given by their tutor after registering for the course. Note that your individual classes will not continue after your grace period has come to an end. Without a medical certificate, which you need to email to the course administrator (p.warren@ucl.ac.uk), you will not be given an extension for your classes. 

Note however that you do continue to have access to all online course materials even when your classes have come to an end.

A note on fees - UCL has a no refund policy for course fees. Refunds of course fees minus a £100 administration charge will only be considered in cases of serious illness. Claims must be made in writing and be supported by verifiable documentation. To sign up for the courses, pay the course fee in the UCL Online Store. If you prefer paying by bank transfer contact Ingrida Maziliauskaite (i.maziliauskaite@ucl.ac.uk). In case you experience problems when completing the registration or online payment form, email Paul Warren (p.warren@ucl.ac.uk), the Course Administrator. After your registration is complete, your tutor contacts you with all course information.
