UCL Pre-sessional English Courses

Pre-sessional English students in class

UCL Pre-sessional courses are academically challenging, intensive programmes taught by highly qualified and experienced UCL teaching staff.

These courses fully prepare you to study a graduate degree programme (MA, MSc, LLM, MPhil/PhD) at UCL or another UK university, if your first language is not English and you need to meet the language requirement.

We offer a range of Pre-sessional courses of different lengths: 6, 8, 12 and 19 weeks. Which Pre-sessional course you can apply for depends on:

  • Your current level of English.
  • The English level required for your future degree course.

If you already hold an unconditional offer to study at UCL, you can still take a pre-sessional course up to 12 weeks long before the beginning of the degree course to help develop academic and study skills, become familiar with UCL and academic life in the UK.

Applications from undergraduate offer holders are also considered.
