Theophrastus - Botanical works
These pages are maintained by Bob Sharples of the Department of Greek and Latin, UCL, as part of his and the Department's contribution to Project Theophrastus, an international collaborative undertaking initiated by Professor William W. Fortenbaugh of the Department of Classics at Rutgers University, New Jersey, in 1979.
The surviving botanical works are not the direct concern of the Project; the following bibliography of works by others is provided for completeness.
- Théophraste, Recherches sur Les Plantes, Texte et Traduction, par S. Amigues, Paris: Les Belles Lettres (Budé series) 1988-2006 (5 vols.)
- Theophrastus, Enquiry into Plants, ed. A. Hort, 2 vols., Loeb Classical Library, 1916-1926.
- Theophrastus, De Causis Plantarum, text and translation, by B. Einarson and G. Link, 3 vols., 1976-1990. Loeb Classical Library.
- Cf. also: Theophrasts Methode in seinen botanischen Schriften, G. Wöhrle, Amsterdam: John Benjamins (= B.R. Grüner), 1985
