Michael Sayeau works on modern and contemporary literature, culture and theory. He has research and teaching interests in various urban issues: infrastructure, advertising, everyday life, and the phenomenology of urban life. He has written on the representation of London in Defoe's Journal of the Plague Year; and an essay on 'Waiting' in the city appears in Restless Cities (eds. Matthew Beaumont and Gregory Dart).
