The elective pack
The Elective Pack: the medical student's guide to essential international health and development |
|
Many medical students go on electives ill-prepared for the challenges that will face them in different societies and different health systems. This Elective Pack aims to help remedy this by providing the tools to understand the actors, issues and processes of international health, and how they link to produce the situations that students will be faced with. It also examines issues around ethical electives, encouraging students to see their time abroad as a two-way learning experience and discouraging "medical tourism". This pack is primarily of use to students travelling to developing countries on their elective, but will also be helpful for those medical students who travel to more developed parts of the world and those interested in global health issues. |
