Human rights, Reproductive and Sexual Health, Women’s health and well-being, Community Participation Methods, Gender Equality.
Biography: Laila has an MSc in
Public Health in Developing Countries (LSHTM, 2007). Her dissertation was on
the ‘Progress made towards reducing maternal and child mortality rates in the
Middle East’. She has also worked in the HIV unit at Christian AID and
conducted a research project on stigma, discrimination and support for people
living with HIV/AIDS in Sudan. She has a wide experience of working with
different NGOs and international organisations on various issues related to
women and young people’s health and well-being. Laila is interested in women
and children’s health rights in conflict zones, in Occupied Palestine in
particular.
Laila is a research assistant for our Big Lottery Funded project, Improving maternal, newborn and child health in low-income countries, working closely with our Bangladeshi partner, Perinatal Care Project - Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (PCP-BADAS).
