Biography: Bejoy is a Research Associate based in
Malawi. He is working on the evaluation of MaiKhanda - a maternal and
neonatal project spread across 3 districts in the central region of
Malawi. The evaluation measures maternal and neonatal mortality through a
population based surveillance system using cluster randomised trial
design. He is also supporting Parent And Child Health Initiative (PACHI), a
registered NGO in Malawi, on research capacity building and getting
evidence into policy and practice. Bejoy has a degree in Medicine and a Masters in Health Administration and
in Public Health. He has previously worked on HIV prevention projects
among vulnerable populations in urban slums in India. Bejoy also has
experience of managing research projects in Qatar.
His areas of interest include health systems and services research,
community health and health economics. As part of his PhD he is looking
at the effectiveness of a community based key-informant surveillance
system in measuring vital events.
