Biography: Following her MSc in Public Policy from Strathclyde University, Jo completed her PhD in international child health with CIHD. Jo has
worked in Honduras with Feed the Children. Her work mainly focused on
supporting rural women to make their local feeding centres more
sustainable and help them set up local children's clubs. She has also
worked in East London and the City Health Authority's department of
public health evaluating the maternity services there. Jo has been based
in Nepal since 2002, providing technical support to NGO MIRA on the implementation and evaluation of a
community mobilisation intervention for maternal and newborn health in
Nepal. She also advises CIHD partners in Bangladesh and India. Jo is
working on evaluating the empowerment of women and communities, and is
developing participatory action research projects. She teaches the
qualitative research methods module at CIHD.
