Biography: Delan
qualified from Manchester medical school in 2002. He then worked in clinical
paediatrics in the UK and New Zealand. After completing a Diploma in Tropical
Medicine and Hygiene in 2006, he worked as a paediatrician with Medecins Sans
Frontieres in Pakistan. He went on to do two emergency projects also with MSF
in South Sudan in a cholera outbreak and Myanmar post-cyclone. He then
completed a masters in public health at the London School of Hygiene and
Tropical Medicine and is a public health Academic Clinical Fellow/Specialty
Registrar in London.
Delan is currently doing a PhD investigating the long-term
effects of antenatal micronutrient supplementation, focusing on lung function
and growth. His main interests are respiratory health and environmental air
pollution, life course epidemiology and child health in humanitarian crises and
conflict.
