Katrina Scior
Senior Lecturer in Clinical Psychology
I am a Senior Lecturer in the
Research Department of Clinical, Educational & Health Psychology. I am also Academic Director of the UCL Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy).
I teach on the DClinPsy, and also on UCL's MSc Research Methods in Psychology and BSc Psychology. I supervise research of undergraduate psychology students and doctoral theses of DClinPsy students.
In the past I worked for many years with children, young
people and adults with intellectual disabilities as part of multi-disciplinary
NHS services.
My research interests are:
General public's awareness, causal and treatment beliefs regarding intellectual disability and their potential impact on stigma and service uptake, within a cross-cultural context.
Mental health provision
for persons with intellectual disabilities, particularly first hand experiences of service users and people close to them of such services.
Together with Sandra Baum and Glenda Fredman I am developing ways of evaluating systemic therapy provided in the context of intellectual disability services.
