CHIRP Interdisciplinary Research Projects Scheme 2014
CHIRP seeks to stimulate and support research activity that transcends disciplinary and institutional boundaries. To this end, the Centre invites applications from research centres or more informal groupings seeking to establish small interdisciplinary research projects.
CHIRP will sponsor the creation and/or development of up to three interdisciplinary research projects, with an Early Career Researcher [ECR] attached to each project. Each proposed research project will have clear indications in the application as to how the appointment of an ECR will facilitate the project, and how their area of research might align with the project proposed. Project proposers may choose to name a potential ECR as part of their bid, or elect to appoint one by open competition if their bid is successful.
Research groups should be based within UCL humanities (AH, SHS & SSEES), and involve at least two different UCL departments. One of the departments may be from outside UCL humanities, but humanities must be the primary driver of the research proposed. A third partner/collaborator is permissible, and can be from outside UCL and/or the UK . It must be clear how the proposed work will be interdisciplinary and collaborative between at least two departments. In all cases a lead UCL department must be named, for administrative purposes.
