Probably the earliest surviving footage of a musical instrument from the Chinese Erhu family in performance comes from troops of the Chinese Labour Corps celebrating Chinese New Year on the Western Front during the First World War. Colin Huehns will introduce the footage and history and perform a selection of pieces on the two-stringed Chinese instrument, the Erhu.

Dr Colin Huehns, Royal Academy of Music: Colin is a lecturer, composer and performer on some thirty different European and Asian stringed instruments.
This event is organised in collaboration with Ming-Ai (London) Institute.
